Short answer: in New York City only FDNY-approved companies may clean commercial kitchen exhaust systems; in Boston every cleaner must be certified and registered with the Boston Fire Department each year. We list companies that are on those official lists, show what each company says it cleans and where, and link every fact to its source. Last verified:

Guides
- How much does kitchen hood cleaning cost in NYC and Boston? One company’s posted prices plus labelled estimates, with sources.
- NYC vs Boston: who is allowed to clean your hood, and how often
How often does my hood need cleaning?
NYC: the exhaust system must be inspected and cleaned at least every 3 months, and vertical ducts more than 3 floors high at least every 6 months (FDNY).
Massachusetts (including Boston): inspection is monthly for solid-fuel cooking, quarterly for high-volume cooking (24-hour, charbroiling, wok), semi-annually for moderate volume and annually for low volume; the inspection decides whether cleaning is needed (Mass. Department of Fire Services).

How we check every listing
- Every company is on a current official list (FDNY, Boston Fire Department, Nassau County Fire Marshal or Nashua, NH), and its dates on that list have not passed. Listings drop off automatically on the expiry date.
- “Scope verified” means the company’s own website says it cleans the hood, the duct and the fan; we quote it and link to it.
- We are independent and not affiliated with any fire department. Our full method.
